Usually you can’t even tell what animal it was twisted from. They are faster and stronger than any living animal, and conventional weapons can’t cause lasting harm, only slow them down. Silver doesn’t do it either, although cold iron has occasionally be used to great effect. Common parlance dubs these things BSTs, ‘Big Scary Things.’ Some people pronounce the acronym like ‘beast.’"

And that is how the lycanthropes work ^-^  Well that's how the first transformation works anyway.  Unless some part of that ends up being narrative inconvenient in which case I'll have to change some >.>b

Aww, that's not huge, it's downright restrained compared to some of the worldbuilding documents I've done. ;P (I get...carried away sometimes.) Er, anyway, interesting interpretation of lycanthropy! Also cold iron FTW. Does that mean they're connected to fae at all?

Ah yes, but this was actually pulled from the middle of a story rather than written as worldbuilding >.>; I tend to sorta hit the brakes on things to explain stuff that the characters already know in mid epic lycan fight. Although to be fair it was really more at the beginning of the battle.

And, nah, they're not related to fae. It's just that cold iron sucks up wild magic easily, which slows down the rapid-healing trick they have.

Heh, the technical term is phase-one monstrolycanthropomorph, but that's too long and sounds like a dinosaur so it only gets used in technical papers. ^-^
