I keep thinking of how this applies to programming frameworks and languages. >.>; Apple's especially challenging to quantify that way, as is Ruby on Rails. Are they yang because they're so widespread and dominant, or yin because their ideals of utility and elegance are still held by minorities in the world outside of computers?
There's also not necessarily anything wrong with being yang; WordPress is dominant, but is also the best choice for most use cases. At least, it seems that way to me. :P
I think an unhealthy yang criticizes things on the basis of whether they're yang or not, while a healthy yin "think[s] different" and gradually becomes yang by attracting more followers.
